Performed Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 December 2009: two one-act plays by Harold Pinter, The Dumb Waiter and Party Time.
For our Autumn production we decided to produce two one-act plays by Harold Pinter, who died nearly a year ago.
The Dumb Waiter Gus and Ben are waiting for instructions. Their only contact with a mysterious employer is the dumb waiter. It delivers extraordinary demands for dishes they cannot supply - and who is it in the empty house? They await a victim and they will know what to do when the instruction comes as it always has before. But who is their next victim?
Party Time Gavin is the host of a party at his up-market flat, but outside the streets are blockaded - the result of an unidentified uprising. At the party, the intrigues between the guests reflect the wider social upheaval and are as potent and suffocating.
